About the blog:
This page is an archive of my figure drawing from 2006 to present day.
I’ve been using life drawing as my research lab and training ground. The place to test myself against the challenge of painting. As I write this I’ve been at it about
eight years ten years ‘seriously’ with about ten years of dilettantism before that. (Art school, various warm ups to being a working artist). I think I’m starting to get somewhere.
But of course, it’s the nature of art to be a moving target. As your abilities grow, your critical eye becomes ever sharper. An artist should never be satisfied with their work, but yet, remain irrationally optimistic about the future.
I hope others out there working on their drawing might enjoy watching my progress. If only as an example of this stubbornness. Feel free to get in touch if you’re doing this too. I’d enjoy a chat with a fellow traveler.
I graduated with a BFA from the Alberta College of Art and Design in 1995 and began working in video games straight away. (Favorite projects: Baldur’s Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age). I left full time game work in 2010, and we’re now living and working in Montreal, doing concept art and illustration on a freelance basis.
