Lakita Lynes at Night Sessions
Just back from the Night Sessions painting workshop. We had Tribal dancer Lakita Lynes sitting for our group of 20 or so artists. I’m a huge fan of her style of dance. I love the exotic fusion of Orientalism and Gothic sensibilities that makes Tribal so distinctive.
I knew she’d be a excellent model – dancers are always great to work with. I only wish she was in town for long enough to do some more work. It’s really somewhat of a waste to have a dancer like her on hand, and just do a portrait painting! – but – Night Sessions is committed to the long pose. This event is all about the chance to do some painting. I’ll just have to organize another night to have someone like this do gesture work!

Wow! Great work. You have captured her exotic beauty and strong personality.
The first portrait is really excellent, it seems like a real step up from some of your previous watercolor portraits!
Thanks Michael!
