Abilene Sapien…

Posted by tarosan on March 27, 2008

So, I’m drawing this mermaid character at Sunday Night Sketchgroup(TM), and I realized…it’s basically a female Abe Sapien…oh well, nothing new under the sea…but it was fun to draw anyway :)

inked women…

Posted by tarosan on March 25, 2008

um ya…I went on a little sketching binge…these are all from the web, I usually try to link up to the source photos, but I was going pretty fast…they’re almost all from the tattooed women flickr group, if y’all want to track down the models/photographers, its out there…but they’re also all anatomically redesigned anyway…so call it artistic license!

Dandy Doodles….

Posted by tarosan on March 17, 2008

So I set out to draw a heroic warrior type character, some brawny ultimate fighter - but somehow, no ideas were forthcoming….I think I’m more of a dandy at heart…either that, or I’ve just drawn too many barbarians at the office lately! custom brushpen…

Posted by tarosan on March 12, 2008

So I had some Dr Martins dyes in my art closet, and a few japanese water-brush-pens (meant for loading with clear water to do w/c sketching I think)…so I made myself a fleshtone brushpen! Then had to play with it:

First Plein Air!

Posted by tarosan on March 10, 2008

Ok, well to be honest I’ve tried this one time before, but that doesn’t count, I got too much sun, my foot fell asleep and those first paintings were so bad they got wiped off…so since I’m the one writing the life story; this is officially my first Plein Air! The plan is to get good (or better anyway!) at this over the summer, and feed the newfound skills back into my gaming work….maybe I’ll get *really* good at it and retire to a beach in Thailand!…or not….we shall see…

my beemish boy…

Posted by tarosan on March 7, 2008

Last night at Dr. Sketchy’s - in addition to the real/real model - we had an impromptu performance by three of our regular artists! Two female vocalists and an acoustic guitar, performing as My Beemish Boy - they create a heartfelt, soulful (mournful almost?) sound that gave a little extra emotion to the sketching….I hope to get a chance to hear them at a ‘for real’ show sometime soon…

When I get proper names, I’ll update with credits - meantime, here’s [their myspace]:

Quetzal is another great model! Really fun to work with; held very imaginative poses. Hope to get another chance to draw with her in the future. (Shoebox Studio)
